Betty Smith

Betty Smith, of Campbellsville, died Friday, September 22, 2017 in Campbellsville following a lengthy illness. She was 87 years, 8 months and 7 days of age.

She was born on January 15, 1930 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late John Caspar and Annabelle Shannon Guenther. She was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church and in her earlier years worked as a cashier for Kroger.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Anna Mae Alexander and Laverne Hardin.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Smith, Sr.; a son, Leon Smith and his wife, Karen of Russellville; a daughter, Norma "Sissie" Wheeler and her husband, Bobby of Perryville; four grandchildren, Brian (Nicole) Wheeler, Steven (Heather) Wheeler, Aaron (Heather) Smith and Tyler (Taylor) Smith and four great-grandchildren, Owen, Ella, Naomi and Lydia Wheeler.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 25th at the Lowell Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Dave Walters officiating. Entombment will follow at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

The family requests visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church prior to the funeral service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Gideon Bibles or Hosparus Green River. Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family expressed deep appreciation to Hosparus Green River for the excellent care they provided and to Lowell Avenue Baptist Church for the care extended through these times.
