Charles W. Spurling of Campbellsville, son of the late William Gobel Spurling and Mary Tarter Spurling, was born August 24, 1925, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 7:30 A.M., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home. Age: 92
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Spurlington United Methodist Church.
Charles was a farmer and also worked in a machine shop for many years.
He united in marriage to Lucille Minor January 23, 1949 and she preceded him in death January 8, 1991. He then united in marriage to Helen Hardesty Wise July 6, 1992 and she preceded him in death December 23, 1999,
He later united in marriage to Carolyn Thompson, December 20, 2002.
Besides his wife, Carolyn Thompson Spurling, he is survived by two sons and one daughter: Randall Spurling and wife, Marsha of Campbellsville, Don Spurling and Judy Garland of Miamisburg ,Ohio, step-children: Wanda Sapp and husband, Manuel, Carolyn Forbis and husband, Mike, and Annette Givens and husband, Rod of Campbellsville, Deborah Miller and husband, Damon of Lexington, Jan Wilcoxson and husband, Tommy, Donald Clark and wife, Paula and Dale Clark of Louisville; four grandchildren: Shawna Spurling, Christopher Garland, Joey Garland and Robin Garland of Campbellsville; several great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother: Mattie Jean Smothers, Margaret Chappell, and Edwin Spurling of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Elaine Spurling, three brothers and one sister: Harold Spurling, Jimmie Spurling, W.M. Gobel Spurling Jr., Hazel Sullivan and two sisters in infancy: Geneva Maye Spurling and Opal Maxine Spurling.
