D. Davis Jr

June 9, 1938 — January 8, 2016

Mr. David Jefferson "D.J." Davis, Jr. of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late David Jefferson Davis, Sr. and Ida Milby Davis, was born on June 9, 1938 in Green County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was 77 years, 6 months, and 30 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder and Deacon. He was in Design Production for the former Greensburg Manufacturing Company for over 25 years, and was a farmer.

Survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue Wright Davis of Greensburg, having united in marriage on October 22, 1961.

Other survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Robin Davis and Ed McCarthy of North Carolina, Traci Davis-Smith and John Smith of Richmond; a son and daughter-in-law: Jon and Susan Davis of Tennessee; six grandchildren: Janson Davis, Jacey Davis, Kelly McCarthy, Teddy McCarthy, Mallory Smith, and Dylan Smith; one step-grandchild: Nicholas Smith and his wife, Ashley of Lexington; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Wilma and Ray Branstetter of Horse Cave, Brenda and Tom Majcher of Frankfort, Hubert and Phyllis Wright of Green County, and Mitchell and Marissa Wright of Mt. Sherman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Davis was also preceded in death by four sisters: Dennis Calhoun, Thracy Hall, Jane Foster, and Georgia Loyall.

The funeral services for Mr. D.J. Davis will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Bro. Kevin Brantley will be officiating.

Visitation is requested from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M., Saturday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Sunday. (Will move to the church at approximately 12 Noon.)

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund, which can be made at the funeral home or the church.
