Deena Richerson

October 19, 1962 — March 24, 2020

Mrs. Deena Deann Richerson of Campbellsville passed from this life on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the University of Louisville Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Weston, West Virginia to George Copeland and Margaret Ann (Jones) LaPradd on October 19, 1962, she was 57 years, 5 months, and 5 days of age. Mrs. Richerson had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was a graduate of Campbellsville High School and studied nursing at Somerset Community College. She united in marriage to Mr. Ronald Melvin Richerson on July 1, 1989. Mrs. Richerson was a long-time employee of Taylor Regional Hospital, where she was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Unit Coordinator. Her life’s passion turned to being a K9 rescue, and she served as president and board member of Jaida’s Paws Rescue, Inc. in Campbellsville. Her caring and genuine heart for her family and furry friends will be dearly missed for generations.

She leaves to mourn her passing:

Her husband: Ronnie Richerson of Campbellsville,

One daughter: Summer Marie Richerson and fiancé Josh Burton of Campbellsville,

Three sisters: Sandra Benton and husband Kenny, Debra Wheeler and husband Steven, and Cynthia Wheeler and husband Larry, all of Campbellsville,

One brother: Steve LaPradd and wife Jennifer of Munfordville,

A brother-in-law: Lee Richerson and wife Cecilia; a sister-in-law: Judy Wright.

Special friends: Marsha Gribbins and Gwin Minter and rescue team member: Cindy Drake,

Her furbabies: Layla, Max, Magic, and Todd,

And a host of other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn LaPradd.

She loved family and her greatest passion was saving the animals. Her motto was “Saving one furbaby at a time – or fifty – it’s a rescue!”

She will be laid to rest in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Due to efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19 and recent requirements implemented by the Office of Governor Andy Beshear and the Kentucky Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, all funeral services will be performed privately.
