Mr. Leonard Earl Campbell of Campbellsville passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Taylor Regional Hospital, being 94 years, 4 months, and 19 days of age. Son of the late Rev. Jessie David “J.D.” and Cecilia (Osborne) Campbell , he was born April 12, 1927 in Taylor County. Mr. Campbell was a long-time employee of Fruit of the Loom and retired after 37 years of service. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended East Campbellsville Church of God. Mr. Campbell especially enjoyed gardening and yardwork, and mowed grass until very recently. He was noted as a devoted and caring man, always willing to help in any capacity he could, and will be dearly missed.
He leaves to mourn his passing:
His wife of 76 years: Mrs. Louise (Gabehart) Campbell,
Three grandchildren: Allison Maynard, Roger Dale Maynard, and Byron “B.K.” Maynard and wife Martha Gail, all of Campbellsville,
A brother: Willard Campbell of Maryland,
A great-granddaughter: Madison Grace Maynard,
And a host of extended family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and George E. Maynard, Jr., and four brothers and six sisters, Albert Campbell, Howard Campbell, Clarence Campbell, Charles Campbell, Bonnie Cox, Edna Dixon, Belle Kessler, Connie Lester, Barbara McCowan, and Rose Williams.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Earl Campbell on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Dennis Creech and Bro. Josh Wilson will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
