George Funk

November 9, 1931 — July 2, 2015

Mr. George Edward Funk was born on November 9, 1931 to the late Joseph and Martha (Benzula) Funk in Buffalo, New York. He departed this life on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at his home in Campbellsville. Mr. Funk was 83 years, 7 months, and 23 days of age. After graduating high school, Mr. Funk answered the call to duty and served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Later, he worked as a plant manager at Custom Concrete Manufacturing in Williamsburg, Virginia, where his work ethic and attention to detail would earn him several commendations. After his retirement, he moved to Campbellsville and worked as a courier at the AutoSmart Car Sales. Mr. Funk professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Stoner Creek United Methodist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory:
His wife of 52 years: Pauline (Smith) Funk,
A daughter: Barbara J. Dowling of Tucson, AZ,
Three step-children: Debbie J. Berry of Mannsville, Marjorie J. Moore of Virginia, and James K. Moses of New York,
Three brothers: Joseph F. Funk of Tennessee, Phillip M. Funk of Georgia, and Raymond A. Funk of New York,
One sister: Lucy Ann Tee of New York,
Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren of his own,
A host of step grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
And several other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, Mr. Funk was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Funk on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Bro. John Hall will be officiating. Emtombment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 5, from 5:00-8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society and can be made here or at the funeral home.
