James Mings

May 20, 1946 — July 25, 2022

J.C. is the son of the late Dorothy and Elby Mings. An infant sister, Lindy Mings, infant brother, Bruce Mings, sister, Ailene Bonczowski and brother, Edgar Mings, precedes him in death.

J.C. leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife and soulmate of 51 years, Judy “Ju-Ju” Gadberry, his daughter, Jamie Elmore and “son”-in-law Patrick Elmore, his twin granddaughters, Audrey and Madison Elmore, a sister, Margret Scott Coomer and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

J.C. served his country proudly as a SGT E5 in the Army and was a Purple Heart Veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired as a Vice President from Klosterman’s Bakery. He was a strong, determined and positive man who was an inspiration to all who were blessed to know him. While health struggles would come his way, he always praised the Lord, remained positive and enjoyed life. He enjoyed serving the Lord, golfing, fishing, cooking, and woodworking.

His greatest joys in life were his family, especially his granddaughters, “Auddie” and “Maddie”. He treasured every moment spent with them.

To have known J.C. was to feel loved and know a man of great strength and determination, who loved God, his family and friends, and his country. He was a true American Hero who will be greatly missed. He lives on in the lessons he taught and love he showed to everyone who loved him.

Visitation will occur at Arch L.
