James Wells

Mr. James Lewis Wells of Campbellsville was born on January 23, 1951 to the late Iva Harlan and James Wells and raised by the late Elbert and Emma McGaha. He went to meet his Lord on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Taylor Regional Hospital after a sudden illness. He was 66 years, 3 months, and 29 days of age. Mr. Wells professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was a former employee of the Fruit of the Loom plant over 14 years, Joy Mining for 11 years, and was currently employed at Lowe's in Campbellsville. He enjoyed time outdoors, especially camping, but above that his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by:

His wife of 48 years: Patty (Smith) Wells,

His three precious children: Valerie Merritt and husband Sam, Daniel Wells and wife Kim, and Chris Wells and wife Jessica, all of Campbellsville,

Eight grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Austin, Haley, and Josh Merritt, and Lindsey, Ollie, and Cody Wells, and Abbey and Bentley Wells,

And a host of other family and friends.

He loved the Lord and his family and they will forever love and miss him.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Wells on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Pastor Jase Divens and Pastor Willard Parson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3878 Greensburg Rd, Campbellsville, KY.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 25, from 5:00-8:00 PM EST.

Mr. Wells will be carried to his final resting place by Daniel Wells, Chris Wells, Sam Merritt, Ollie Wells, Cody Wells, Austin Merritt, and Josh Merritt.
