Mary Catherine Atkinson, age 75 of Campbellsville, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in Campbellsville.
Mary Catherine was born on April 11, 1941 in Lebanon, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Anna Catherine Edwards. She had worked as a seamstress for Fruit of the Loom for 27 years and had been an active member of Bethel AME Church. In her spare time, you would find her playing bingo, bowling, or cheering on her favorite sports team, the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by a son, James Robert Atkinson and a brother, Louis Porter.
She is survived by her husband, George Atkinson, a son George Anthony Atkinson of Lexington, a daughter, Deborah Ann Atkinson and a step daughter Michelle Allen both of Lebanon. Also surviving is a brother Jerry Wells, of Lorraine Ohio and a special friend, Nicola Hines as well as 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
The funeral for Ms. Atkinson will be on Friday, March 31, 2017, at 12 Noon at First Baptist Church in Campbellsville with burial to follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
The family requests visitation after 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31st at First Baptist Church. Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
